On April 14th 2015, Microsoft will be pushing regular Tuesday updates and this time, it also includes update for Lync 2013 client. Next version of Lync client is called ‘Skype for Business’ (SfB) and it retains the same functionality of Lync 2013 client. The only major difference is User Interface (UI) i.e. look and feel of the client. SfB UI now looks more like Skype UI. Internally, we have been using SfB for last few months without any issues. With the new SfB client, we noticed good improvement in call quality over low bandwidth.
You can upgrade to SfB client if your team chooses to do it and we will support it. If your team want to stay with Lync 2010 or 2013, we will continue to support it.
